The little boy came up to me
and asked me, "Are you God?"
he caught me off guard for a bit
with his question so odd

I said "No" and then he looked down
a saddened face befell
I knew I had to speak to him
he’s hurting I could tell
____
I asked him why he’s looking for God
then he began to cry
I held him close to me in tears
and then he gave a sigh
____
"My folks don’t love me anymore
I heard them say it too!
They want to go their separate ways
I don’t know what to do."

oh God how can I serve this lad
to help him trust in You
please Lord help me comfort this boy
just show me what to do
____
and then Jesus spoke to my heart
and said, "Tell him of Me.
For the world I suffered all
each pain of misery."

I hugged him and told him of God
and how He loves us dear
and hope and trust in Him alone
for He is always near
